My first question is: Yahoo personals/ match.com?.

My next question is: I just started dating (online dating with Match.com) again after quite a hiatus.  I was married for 16 years to a man who had severe bipolar disorder, then in a long term relationship (thru Match.com) for 7 with a man who was severely verbally and emotionally abusive.  I'm 44 and the man I've started dating (online dating with Match.com) is 40.  We've known each other for about 7 years, but as friends and business associates (we don't work together, but have known each other in a business context).  He has been divorced about 4 years and hasn't seriously dated anyone.  I am highly attracted to him and it would seem that he feels the same.  In the past, I've jumped into bed very quickly with my last two long term relationships and found that the relationships were based more on sex and less on all the things that make a relationship (thru Match.com) healthy.  Is there any good general rule of thumb about how many dates, how many weeks, how long do I wait?  This is a little difference since we've known each other a long time and I know him to be a kind, compassionate, generous, even-tempered, responsible human being.  (Yay!  There is a single one out there is who is nice!).  I would like to jump him now, but I'm waiting...

That sounds like great advice to me.  We've been going out for two weeks, seeing each other about twice a week. He's not at all pushing, so I don't think waiting will be a problem for me.  You're right dating (online dating with Match.com) is not the same as being friends.  I'm finding that I feel a little awkward calling him and I'm second guessing myself which is stupid.  He's returning my calls right away, he's happy to hear from me.  He's calling me.it's all good.  I think I didn't realize the damage my last relationship (thru Match.com) did to my self-esteem and my trust in my own instincts. ..

2 weeks to me is not long enough.  I too have hopped in the sack and became emotionally involved because of it and it was with the wrong man.  I dont think there is a hard fast rule that says ok now is the time.  But what I learned fromy my own self and experiences that having sex with someone I am dating (online dating with Match.com) is way down on the priority list.  I am definitely going to get to know him very well first before I become emotionally involved with the wrong one just because the sex was great..

I'm being a good girl!  For a change I want to do this right.  I am enjoying dating (online dating with Match.com) rather than jumping into a relationship.  I'm setting a minimum waiting period of 4 weeks for myself, longer if I can stand to hold out. ..

There are so many posts on these love boards from girls/women that have sex with a man right from the get go, then they want to know why he is not interested now, or never calls them again, or wonder if they are being used just for the sex.  IMHO if they would wait until there are definite feelings to become intimate there would be a lot less of these posts.  I belive if a man is interested in just sex he will disappear once he gets what he wants or only see her when he wants sex again.  If he is interested in her as a person, likes her, wants to be with her learn about her and respects her he will wait until there are mutual feelings of caring and loving on both sides no matter how long it takes..

Call me old fashioned, a fuddy duddy or what ever but I believe women today are to willing to give it up to soon..
