Vodka w diet tonic is a great plan but most establishments don't have diet tonic. I have vodka w/ club soda and ask them to muddle the citrus(lemons/limes) it's very refreshing and in between water w/ lemon like someone else advised. Enjoy your evening and be safe!.

FYI - Vodka has no carbs. unless you have any of the flavored ones...

Dr. told me before my Vegas trip ( i'm diabetic).

If you MUST drink, drink Rum and Diet Coke. NON flavored rum. He was right, it had NO effect on my blood sugar. BEST diet drink and gets you WASTED!.

Distilled alcohol has more sugar than say a lite beer. Since the OP asked for the "best" to have, I'd say the answer is lite low carb beer...

Since no one has stated the obvious on this thread, I'll give you the Nutrisystem line on alcohol just to make sure we are covered here!.

Avoid alcohol. Empty calories. In my experience, which is vast on this subject , it really slows down your weight loss. It probably takes 3 days to recover and continue to lose weight. It makes you more hungry for the next day or two. And while you are buzzed, you are way more likely to say "oh what the heck" and indulge in a bad food choice.

Distilled drinks have more sugar. Wine is NOT a fruit serving! Try drinking a water in between any drink. And drink LOTS of water that day and the next. Do NOT subtract food calories to try to make up for your alcohol calories...

Thanks so much - I really need all that info - My husband is in a band and we are out every weekend. I don't always have drinks but when I do, I do not want to mess up my progress!..

I am also a type 1 diabetic(21 yrs.) that's why I stick to vodka. Don't know if you know this but our bodies can actually matabolize(sp) sugar alcohol. Hard alcohol can lower blood sugars so check.
