Can someone just give me a quick over-view of what other foods I need to incorporate? I'm assuming vegetables and fruit, but how much, how often?.

Look at the recommended groceries under tips and recipes. Also look at some of the selections from your "my program" tab..

I'm on the guys plan so the food might be different. You will need a few things to get started, and in time you will just know. And the hard part of the plan is Water water water......

Just as an example, here is my typical day for a Woman who is on the 1200 calorie a day plan (under 100 pounds to lose, under 60 years old):.

Breakfast:.

NutriSystem Low-Fat Granola mixed with 3/4 cup blueberries and 8 oz yogurt for a Breakfast Parfait (Entree/Fruit/Dairy or Protein) The Granola can be eaten first with 1/2 cup milk (that is not the Dairy/Protein serving, it goes with the cereal), then have the fruit and yogurt an hour or so later (I have 6-7 "meals" a day doing this)..

Lunch:.

NutriSystem Lunch Entree or Bar, Small Can Sodium-Free V-8 Juice or a HUGE Mixed Green Salad with FF dressing, 1/2 cup FF Cottage Cheese or a small, 80 calorie can of Tuna (Entree/Salad/Protein or Dairy). I usually have the salad, then the bar about an hour later..

Snack:.

Small Apple and String Cheese (Fruit/Protein or Dairy).

Dinner:.

NutriSystem Entree (different one each night, I usually only repeat an entree 2-3 times a month, but you can have the same thing more frequently if you like), 2 Servings of Veggies (usually broccoli and cauliflower for me, but any veggies you like...remember, however, that peas and corn are carbs, not veggies), Mixed Green Salad with 0 Calorie Walden Farms Dressing.

Dessert:.

NutriSystem Double Chocolate Almond Cookie or Dessert Bar with 1 Teaspoon Peanut Butter (Dessert/Fat)..

Raw celery and zucchini to munch on if needed, SF Popsicle, SF Jello, also.

You can eat up to 3 servings of "free foods" of under 20 calories each per day. Even 1 cup of air-popped popcorn works..

I generally keep on hand a bag of Mixed Greens salad, a box of sliced mushrooms, zucchini, broccoli, string cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, apples, bananas and frozen blueberries.

You will also need to drink at least 64 oz. of water a day...

The beginning instruction is poor/lacking. One of the few flaws. Don't let it stop you. Learn by doing. Ask questions on the board. Eat your addins!..

I didn't get the Meal Planner either. I called and they are supposed to be sending me one....that was on Tuesday. They said it could be 6-10 business days before I get the Meal Planner. I've been logging everything on line to keep track...

Oh yeah, and one more thing. When you nuke the dinners, peel back the cover to vent, but also stick it back in the box, or it might throw up all over your microwave. Add boil the water separately for the soups, then pour it in stir, and let sit for 10 min, cause they erupt sometimes too...

I didn't get the Meal planner. When I called, they did say they would send the planner but they also emailed me the basic info within an hour. I did get the Meal Planner but it is basically the same info as online. The only difference is that it would be useful to those who don't like to track their activity online...

Yup I totally agree with you. The information to get started is severely lacking. You have to find it for yourself. I just used the meal tracker here online to figure it out. But there are still other questions that *shrug* IDK...should we take a supplement? Can we move meals around (have breakfast for lunch on a weekend? Can we combine meals? Can we save parts to have a larger meal? Can we save from one day to another? Thought I saw somewhere that 100+ ppl get more food but can't find it again. How do you get the bears.



I'm just learning as I go and trolling the forums but it sure would be nice if they would consolidate it all in one easy spot. Starting a new eating habit is difficult enough. Just saying...

WOW - just to answer a few...yes we can switch meals around - lunch & dinner switched (I find lunches easier to take with me at times); we can add the flavorings to water altho Nutrisystem still says have plenty of plain; at bottom of each daily page in Planner I believe it mentions the extras that 100+ losers can add; we can spread meals out...thus some do save parts to add to another meal. Nutrisystem really doesnt advocate saving & making a HUGE meal..

Faeth: All of those questions would be answered by one call to a Counselor. They are there 24/7 to answer any and all questions. You can reach them at 1-800-321-8446, Option 4..

The plan is easy. You mark off the circles in your planner. You follow the amounts and types of foods listed in the Recommended Grocery Items. The Meal Planner has all of the information about those with over 100 pounds to lose..

Don't over-think it. Just follow the plan. The weight will vamoosh!..

Skin-ny-me....

I have also just started (today actually) and I didn't get my information either. Food only... the consultants online were very helpful and sent me foods list and menu via email right away and also sent out the other stuff to arrive later.

I also am looking for an encouraging friend in this endeavor.....

I've found customer service and the counselors to be very helpful. Tomorrow will begin Week 4 and I've really enjoyed this Nutrisystem program to date. I did customize my order, so the food I ordered was fine. I have not had soups to explode in the microwave or any of that. I absolutely love the Broccoli soup and the Bean and ham soup...

I found the meals I don't like, I go and redo my order right away. That way I don't get it again. But I too have found that the counselors are very helpful. I am ending week 3, and going to week 4. I have lost 11 lbs.

I wish tho the wraps weren't so messy! The buffalo chicken one is the worse! It explodes out of the shell as soon as I pick it up.

I like the bulkier veggies- broccoli and cauliflower, they are filling. The same with yogurt- it's filling.

I teach preschool and got a Trader Joes Giftcard- I am looking forward to going there to see what treats, they have!..

Thanks for mentioning the gas issue,, I have lots,, how do we get rid of it,, and why does this food give me gas,, any ideas,, am I alone ???..
