Ok...I know that I should give this a couple of weeks...but I absolutely can't stand the oatmeal...even when made into the muffins. Bleeech. It even makes my house smell. I added cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg and still had to choke them down. I was using the peach oatmeal..

And when making a shake and using the Davinci syrup, how much makes a difference in how the shake tastes? I made a strawberry one with some raspberry syrup and couldn't tell that there was anything but strawberry in there. Again, felt like I had to choke it down..

The good news, though....I like the creamy tomato soup, the chicken noodle soup, the chocolate mint bars and the dutch chocolate shake.

Any suggestions? You folks are amazing...

I make the oatmeal into cookies..

Try this:.

2 pkg Oatmeal (I use Blueberry, but any flavor will do).

3 pkt of splenda.

1/2 cup water.

1/2 tsp baking powder.

1 tsp vanilla extract.

Mix dry then add liquids.

Spray cookie sheet with Pam.

Bake at 350 for about 6 minutes.

Makes 6 nice size cookies.

Enjoy....this was someone else's recipe on here, I do not take credit for it.

If you use M &BS oatmeal you can add 2TB of Peanut Butter for another recipe..

I make the oatmeal into a pancake... The apple cinnamon is my favorite for this... Add 1 packet of oatmeal, 1/8 tsp baking powder and 1/3 c water. Mix it up and pour it into a skillet sprayed with Pam. I cook it for a long time on each side. It brings out the flavors in the oatmeal and tastes pretty good!..

I think your problem with the oatmeal might be that your "doctoring" the peach flavored one. It's very hard to make it taste like anything but peach. I use the apple one for everything. With the apple oatmeal, I make the banana/nut muffins and the pumpkin muffins and they taste just like they should. I have a hard time getting it down as "oatmeal" but the muffins are good with a hot cup of coffee. I use the recipe with the flax seed meal though..

I couldn't get the strawberry shake to taste like anything else. Now I only buy the chocolate ones and don't try to make fancy shakes out of them. I just mix with water in the shaker cup that they send with the first order, and then drink it fast.

I think of Medifast as my vitamin supplements while dieting. I don't go to a lot of effort to jazz things up other than making the muffins. I spent quite a bit of money on the syrups and other things that people are buying mail order and found that with a bit of bullion for the soups and some spices from the cabinet, I could eat most things and do just fine. But there are some foods that I won't buy again. I think that's what the combo packs are for. To let you try everything so that you can find out what things you like and then only re-order those.

Good luck. Don't give up on Medifast. It does work but it takes some time to adjust your tastebuds...

Thanks for your insight...I do appreciate your ideas and will try. As far as getting the peach oatmeal to taste good....Heck, I don't even think it tastes like peach.

I am going to try to do the cookies. Maybe they will not seem so dense. I am not an oatmeal person. I guess getting a variety of things helps me decide what I can stomach and what I can't.

Thanks again...

I'm struggling to choke down the oatmeal too. Last night, I turned my remaining oatmeals into muffins using Defragged's muffin recipe (modified a bit because I didn't have poppy seeds or True Lemon). It made the oatmeal edible, although it will never be a favorite of mine..

These actually came out looking like muffins, although they are a bit dense in the center. I think the next time I will cook mine a bit longer. But overall, a vast improvement over the oatmeal straight.

Notice that it makes 8 muffins or 4 Medifast meals.

3 packets Medifast Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal.

1 packet Medifast Vanilla Shake.

2 packets Splenda.

1 teaspoon baking powder.

2 teaspoons poppy seeds.

1 teaspoon lemon extract.

1 teaspoon almond extract.

1 packet of True Lemon.

1 cup cold water.

Mix all dry ingredients thoroughly. Then add liquid ingredients being sure to add water slowly. Spoon into muffin tins that have been sprayed with non-fat cooking spray. I use silicone bakeware for even baking..

Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Remove immediately from pan and cool..

Yeild: 8 muffins (4 Medifast meals)..

By the way, I used the blueberry oatmeal, so I'm guessing it would work with peach just as well...

As far as the syrup in the shakes, I find it does take a lot, 2-3 tablespoons. The orange shakes are my least favorite thing. I can get them down only with 3-4 TBS of Walden Farms SF/FF chocolat syrup. And remember you are only allowed 4 TBS of SF syrup per day. So I m going to try the Capella flavor drops now (they just arrived!)...

Oatmeal into waffles if you have a waffle iron. Best Medifast meal to me. Also strawberry shakes with tropical Crystal light to go, and in the blender with a cup of water and a cup of ice. Orange shakes in the blender with a cup of diet orange soda...

Put the things you don't care away for a couple weeks... don't stress over it and don't waste them trying to many recipes. Then revisist them - your tastes will change, I'm betting..

It did for me except for the peanut butter bar...

Macsgrandma is so right. Your tastebuds will change after being on Medifast for a bit..

When I first started Medifast I ordered the chai latte and took one sip and promptly threw out what I had made. So gross tasting to me....and I NEVER waste anything. If I could have possibly choked it down I would have. But out it went..

When one of my orders was late a few months later I was desparate. Out came the chai lattes from the back of the closet and I was amazed. I liked it. And now I love it..

So see...those tastebuds will get used to things and change. For now, have the Medifast meals that you know you like. It's important to stay on program to maximize that first weigh-in because it's going to give you mega motivation and inspiration.

Good luck! Hang in there! Keep posting to let us know how you are doing...

Here's my favorite muffin recipe-I love the blueberry oatmeal for these, but all of them work nicely:.

Preheat oven to 380 degrees.

Spray a 10 oz custard cup with Pam.

Mix together in a small bowl or cup:.

1 pkg Medifast oatmeal, any flavor.

1/8 tsp baking powder.

1/4 tsp baking soda.

1 tbl ground flax seed (optional)-this is for additional fiber in your diet-can get at health food store, watch calorie count.

Measure:.

Cup of water.

Add to it 1 tsp of vinegar and 1 tsp of lemon juice (or just a good squirt from plastic lemon)..

Vanilla or other flavoring is optional.

Make a well in the dry ingredients, pour the liquid in and mix with a fork, just until it is wet throughout. Dont stir out the bubbles..

Dump into the prepared custard cup and bake for 15 minutes.

Remove from custard cup to a plate or rack to cool. Refrigerating before eating improves the flavor..

Makes one serving. If making more than one, I mix each separately...

PS, you may want to up the baking time to 18-20 minutes if they don't get done enough for you. I like them moister.....

Can anyone PM me to tell me what I was doing wrong. My muffins came out like they weren't cooked all the way through. I personally must be the only one that likes the oatmeals as oatmeal but wanted to try the muffins.

My 1st month I orderred the variety pack just like others of you to find what I could take and what I couldn't. The only oatmeal I couldn't take that well was the one with peaches. I reordered the apple cinnamon and maple brown sugar which I liked the best..

As for the sakes I tried to make strawberry cookies following the recipe on the vanilla cookies card. They came out unbareable and very soft. Vanila mixed with the strawberry shake was a catastrophy..

With the muffins (not being a cook or baker) I had an extremely old can of the baking powder so I got a new one figuring that was the reason the muffins didn't rise. They where still good but very soft and still didn't rise as I expected. I haven't tried making more cookies yet nor any more muffins (even though they came out soft they where still good I was wondering that perhaps they where suppose to come out that way.)..

I cook the muffins for about 18-20 minutes and then I turn the oven off and leave them in there for another 15 minutes. I cannot stand the mushy middle and this seems to help with that...

You're a lifesaver Farrell - I'm going to try that! I can't stand the mushy middle either. Especially the day after when they've been in the fridge overnight. Blech. But I definitely find the muffins more palatable than the oatmeal itself straight up...

I make the oatmeal into minie muffins and then cook them. When they are done I toast them and spread them with Walden Farms ff/sf/calorie free jelly. It makes a world of difference...

When I could drink the shakes, I LOVED to take the vanilla added to a Diet Cherry Vanilla Doctor Pepper!!! OHHHHHHHHH HEAVEN!!! Beware: add shake slowly to the soda and stir slowly until all is added otherwise it will (literally) blow up on you..

This is yummy in Diet Orange too. The Orange Shake is great in Orange soda too.

I make really fluffy muffins out of the Chai:.

3 chai pkts.

1 pkt multigrain crackers, make into a coarse powder in food processor or blender.

1/2 tsp baking soda.

1/2 tsp baking powder.

2 T Davinci Vanilla syrup.

1 tsp I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray.

1/2 c + 2 T water.

Mix up. spray non-stick muffin tin with pam. Fill 6 cups equally with mixture. Bake in 375 oven for 12-15 min-until done to your liking. They taste better chilled..

2 muffins=1 Medifast meal + 1/3 snack Recipe=3 Medifast meals + 1 snack.

Enjoy! I loved them! AND... I didn't need Oatmeal or a shake!!! YAYYYYY... I cannot have the soy Medifast d/t soy intolerance...
