My Gosh, I got on the scale and I gained 6 pounds....its TOM...Is that even possible? I am aghast! I know all you ladies said stay away from the scale during TOM...but this is crazy...

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, PLEASE.

DON'T PANIC!! You are probably just retaining water. Drink extra water for a few days, and be careful to measure everything and watch your condiments and sodium content during those few days too and THEN weigh yourself again. I bet you'll be pleasantly relieved!..

I always gained when I was having TOM. Definitely should not weigh especially if you know it happens. Keep the faith and keep following program, it will be fine...

Yep, I have gained 4 lbs. or more several times over during this journey... my love of salty foods doesn't help... just try to stay calm and ride it out, it will pass!.

Ps. For me, it seems to come on overnight but takes several days to lose, dang it...

Siobhan had an awesome post about water retention and TOM - she posted in response to my freak-out - but she explained some biology/science behind the process and why you are actually burning more calories than non-TOM times...which makes sense since your body is doing extra stuff (how's that for scientific??!?!).

Anyway, search for TOM and see if you can't find that post - it would be a February post - I don't know how to cut/paste or I'd find it for you. It really helped me :-)..

I usually gain 3-5lbs during this time - actually, let me rephrase that - the scale typically reads a gain of 3-5lbs and after about a week I will typically "lose" 5-7lbs. DRink extra water, follow the plan and stay away from the scale...

Thanks Ladies, I tend to panic...I will look for that TOM post too!.

Had that same issue over the weekend, lost 16lbs, gained like 6 overnight (or at least it felt like it) all but 1 gone now, and I guess more will go too.

Or I would, but I'm not having a good week, the migraine I've been fighting off for 3 days hit last night with all it's wonderful effects, today, I twisted my bad knee and I ended up leaving work early... crawled up my stairs and now I'm going to medicate with the doctors stuff and self medicate with some salt and trash food and go to bed.

Guess I'll catch back up tomorrow. (i know, omg so whiny ).

Night and good luck all..
